Ashland Esports Hosts In-Person Tournament, Enters New Competitions

As regular seasons for National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) come to a close, Ashland University Esports is finding new competitions, including an in-person tournament on campus.

  • A local Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Solos tournament took place at Ashland University with 25 competitors. Ashland High School student Scottie Wade won first place. Two Eagle Esports team members, senior Domenic Cole and freshman Evan Norman, placed in the Top 8.

  • Eagle Esports Counter-Strike: Global Offensive started competing in the game's successor, Counter-Strike 2, in both NACE Starleague and National Esports Collegiate Conference.

  • Sophomore Jonathan Mims and junior Jayden Strickland entered the NACE Starlague Fortnite Builds Tournament Finals after being a top team in the qualifiers, ending sixth overall as a duo in the nationwide tournament.

  • Ashland Call of Duty Varsity Plus started its NACE Starlague regular season, remaining undefeated through five contests.

Eagle Esports will travel to Westville, Ind., for the Midwest Esports Conference Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fall Finals on Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 11-12). Counter-Strike 2 also will continue its NECC fall season. Another Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament will be at the Esports facility on Nov. 19 at 1 p.m., while Call of Duty Varsity Plus will play its final regular-season match on Wednesday (Nov. 8) at 8:30 p.m., live at www.twitch.tv/ashlandesports.
