Eagle Esports Traveled Across The United States And Canada In September

Ashland University Esports has opened its various 2023-24 seasons with plenty of hard-fought wins and travel across the continent.
  • The Eagles Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team traveled twice in September, first to Riptide 2023 from Sept. 8-10, an in-person tournament held yearly at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, the team traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, from Sept. 16-18 for the Midwest Esports Conference Smash Clash collegiate bracket.
  • Overwatch 2 Varsity also took a trip to Iowa from Sept. 8-11, taking second place at the Mid-America Gamers Expo (MAGE) 2023 collegiate tournament. With an upset against Bellevue, Ashland Esports earned a spot in the grand finals until the Eagles fell short to Iowa State.
  • Back home in Ashland, all teams began their fall seasons. Overwatch 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Varsity teams are 3-1 in their NACE Starleague Varsity Premier standings, placing them in the top ranks across the league as playoffs continue to draw near.
  • Finishing the month, Overwatch 2 embarked on the team's first international trip, attending the Overwatch League 2023 Playoffs in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, from Sept. 28-Oct. 1 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. During the event, the team had opportunities to meet some of the best Overwatch 2 athletes in the world, including 2023 Grand Champion Rupal Zaman of the Florida Mayhem.
