Eagle Men Shut Out Saints, Move Into Tie For First In Great Midwest

The charge of late by Ashland University's men's soccer team, continued on Saturday (Oct. 7) afternoon in a 2-0 win against Thomas More at Ferguson Field, has resulted in the Eagles moving into a first-place tie atop the Great Midwest Athletic Conference table.

Ashland's fourth consecutive victory puts its record at 5-5-2 and 5-1-2 in the Great Midwest, while the Saints are 5-6-1, 3-4-1. The Eagles and Tiffin, as of Saturday afternoon, are tied atop the conference with 17 points each.

  • That was more than enough for junior goalkeeper Ty Bowden, whose five saves resulted in his first solo clean sheet of 2023 and the third for the team this season.
  • The Eagles have scored 15 goals in the last five games.
  • Ashland out-shot Thomas More, 17-9, and the Eagles took 10 of the 12 corner kicks in the contest.
