Ashland University's women's soccer team moved back into first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference table on Wednesday (Oct. 25) afternoon, as a pair of second-half goals lifted the No. 2-ranked Eagles to a 2-0 win at Ursuline.

Now 3-0 all-time against the Arrows, Ashland's women improve to 14-0-2 overall and 10-0-2 in the Great Midwest. With 32 conference points, the Eagles lead second-place Northwood by one point and third-place Findlay by four points. The Timberwolves and Oilers play each other on Thursday (Oct. 26) at 4 p.m. in Findlay.

NOTABLES
- Wednesday's contest was scoreless until the 57th minute, when junior midfielder Merrik Mihalek recorded her sixth goal of the season to put AU on top. Junior forward Tori Haggit assisted Mihalek for her second helper of the fall.
- Ashland added an insurance goal in the 79th minute, as Haggit potted her second goal of the year off a corner kick. Assists went to sophomore forward Dani Hicks (fourth of the season) and freshman forward Sydney Polen (third of the season).
- The Eagles entered Wednesday's game ranked in a tie for eighth place in NCAA Division II, averaging 7.53 corner kicks per game. Ashland had all 14 corner kicks on Wednesday, as well as a decided 22-3 shots advantage.
- Junior goalkeeper Maddie Dolenga (1-0-1) earned her first win and first solo clean sheet of 2023 against the Arrows, facing no shots on goal. It is Ashland's 12th shutout overall this season, and Dolenga's third overall as an Eagle.
