For just the second time this season, the No. 1-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team played to a non-win – this time a 1-1 draw at Findlay on Saturday (Oct. 21) afternoon.
The Eagles continue as unbeaten in 2023 at 13-0-2 overall and 9-0-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Ashland is two points behind first-place Northwood in the league table, and one point ahead of the Oilers (9-3-3, 9-1-1) in second place.
NOTABLES
- For the second time this season, Ashland was the recipient of an own goal – this one coming in the 47th minute on Saturday to give the Eagles the lead following a scoreless first half.
- Then, in the 79th minute, Findlay's Payton Miller scored an unassisted goal to knot the game at 1.
- Junior goalkeeper Maddie Dolenga made four saves in the tie.
- The Oilers narrowly out-shot the Eagles, 10-9, and Ashland took all nine corner kicks in the contest.
- Ashland has outscored its opponents 41-4 this season – 17-1 in the first half and 24-3 in the second half.
