Two more Ashland University student-athletes have been lauded with the athletic department's top individual honor, as
Annie Roshak and
Gavin Posey are the 2022-23 Ashland Student-Athletes of the Year.
The AU Student-Athlete of the Year award is voted on by the institution's Athletic Committee.
Roshak, a fifth-year forward on the women's basketball team this coming season, and Posey, a four-year starter at right tackle for the football team, are the 36
th set of AU Student-Athletes of the Year. Posey is the 14
th Ashland football honoree, and Roshak is the 10
th Eagle women's basketball awardee.
Both Roshak and Posey will be honored at the 99
th Homecoming football game on Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. against Lake Erie at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field.
ANNIE ROSHAK 2022-23 STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR RESUME
- Starter on a 37-0 and NCAA Division II national-championship team (averaging 14.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks in only 23.7 minutes per game, and shooting 63.0 percent from the field (third-best in the country), 48.4 percent from 3-point range, and a school-record 92.9 percent from the free-throw line).
- Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Midwest Region women's Student-Athlete of the Year.
- Ashland athletic department's nominee for 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year.
- Great Midwest Athletic Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
- Great Midwest Women's Athlete of the Year.
- Division II Elite Eight Most Outstanding Player and all-tournament team.
- College Sports Communicators (CSC) second-team Academic All-America.
- Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) first-team and D2CCA second-team All-American.
- Midwest Region all-tournament team.
- D2CCA All-Midwest Region first-team.
- CSC Academic All-District.
- Great Midwest Player of the Year and first-team.
- Great Midwest Tournament Most Valuable Player and all-tournament team.
- Graduated with a 3.84 cumulative grade-point average as an Accounting major.
GAVIN POSEY 2022-23 STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR RESUME
- Starting right tackle on a 10-2, Great Midwest championship and NCAA Division II postseason team.
- First-team CSC Academic All-America (first three-time All-America in program history, third in Ashland athletics history).
- CSC Academic All-District.
- Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) first-team All-Super Region 1.
- All-Great Midwest first-team.
- 2023 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.
- Graduated with a 3.89 cumulative GPA as an Accounting major.
