Eagle Volleyball Goes 1-1 To Begin Midwest Crossover

In first-day action which began on Friday (Oct. 13) and ended early on Saturday (Oct. 14) morning Eastern time, Ashland University's volleyball team went 1-1 to start the 15th Midwest Region Crossover in Hammond, Ind.
 
The Eagles saw their seven-match winning streak end, 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 27-25), against No. RV Quincy, then they took care of Parkside for the second time in 2023, 3-2 (17-25, 25-23, 26-28, 25-23, 15-12).
 
Ashland goes into Saturday's placing match at the Crossover at 16-5 overall following a 10th consecutive victory over the Rangers.
 
NOTABLES
  • The win against Parkside featured 31 tie scores and 11 lead changes.
  • Both freshman outside hitter Henlie Krause (16 kills, 13 digs) and junior outside hitter Makenna Belcher (11 kills, 23 digs) finished with double-doubles, and junior right-side hitter GraceAnn Hartman added 11 kills.
  • Senior libero Katie Thompson recorded 28 digs, and freshman setter Kylee Urban racked up 30 assists, five kills, five service aces and seven digs.
  • Against the Hawks, Urban (18 assists) and junior setter Georgi Moody (14 assists) combined for 32 of the team's 38 assists. Belcher paced the defense with 13 digs.
  • Ashland's victory over Parkside is the program's 995th all-time.
