In yet another second-half rally for a victory, Ashland University senior guard
Brandon Haraway's driving layup with 6.8 seconds left, then two late defensive stops, lifted the Eagle men's basketball team to a 69-65 win at Lake Erie on Thursday (Jan. 12) night.
Ashland's ninth consecutive victory puts it at 11-4 overall and 7-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference – still a half-game behind Hillsdale and tied with the Chargers in the loss column for first place in the league.
The Storm is 8-7, 5-4.
After Haraway's layup, the Storm missed a shot, and, after the Eagles lost the ball on a five-second violation, Lake Erie missed two free throws attempting to tie the game with 1.3 ticks left.
The Storm led 26-14 with 5:32 left in the first half, then 42-31 with 18:13 remaining in the game before the Eagle comeback.
Ashland's nine-game winning streak is the program's longest since winning the first 13 games of the 2018-19 campaign.
