On Thursday (Sept. 8) night in North Canton, Ohio, Ashland University's women's soccer team picked up in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play where it left off last fall, topping Walsh, 3-2.

Thanks to their third consecutive victory, the Eagles are 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the Great Midwest thanks to their ninth win in 10 all-time meetings with Walsh. The Cavaliers are 2-2, 0-1.

Ashland continues to be undefeated in league play since joining the Great Midwest – now 13-0-2 in the regular season and 2-0 in the tournament.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game's first 10½ minutes. In the seventh minute, junior midfielder/defender Peyton Starner scored her first goal as an Eagle on an assist from sophomore forward McKinley Mendenhall.
- Then, in the 11th minute, senior forward Bailey Clark made it a 2-0 game when Starner and Mendenhall assisted on Clark's second goal in as many games.
- After the Cavaliers tied the game on goals in the 12th and 73rd minutes, Clark potted her second of the game and third of the season on a helper from freshman midfielder Leiah Goedde. Clark now has five game-winning goals in the last 14 games going back to last season, and two game-winners in a row.
- Senior goalkeeper Bri Rogers (3-2) earned the win with four saves.
