Ashland University's men's soccer team took its first loss of the new season on Saturday (Sept. 3) night, losing a 4-1 decision at Mercyhurst.
The Eagles are 1-1-1, and the Lakers are 4-0.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Mercyhurst scored three first-half goals in the 11th, 40th and 42nd minutes, then added its fourth and final tally in the 57th minute.
- Ashland's goal came from senior forward Vicente Alonso, who potted his first goal as an Eagle in the 65th minute, unassisted.
THE WRAP-UP
- The Lakers had a decided 25-11 shots advantage in the victory.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Ty Bowden made a career-high 10 saves in the loss.

Ashland will open Great Midwest Athletic Conference play in North Canton on Thursday (Sept. 8) at 7:30 p.m. against Walsh.
