For the first time since joining the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Ashland University's women's soccer team was on the wrong end of a final score in league play.

After going 12-0-2 in the 2021 Great Midwest regular season, 2-0 in the 2021 league tournament and 3-0 to start the 2022 conference regular year, the No. 24-ranked Eagles lost on Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon at Cedarville, 2-1.

Ashland, which entered the day on a five-game winning streak, is 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the Great Midwest, while the Yellow Jackets are 4-2-1, 3-1.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Cedarville struck for two first-half goals – Megan McClish from Emily Walton in the fourth minute, then Olivia Hoffman from Payton Fraley in the 31st minute.
- In the 87th minute, the Eagles cut their deficit in half when sophomore midfielder Sabrina Trapani scored her first goal of 2022 and her third collegiate tally, unassisted.

- Cedarville had a slim 8-7 shots advantage, and Ashland took five of the game's seven corner kicks.
- Senior goalkeeper Bri Rogers made three saves in the defeat.
