On Thursday (Sept. 15) afternoon at Tiffin, the No. 24-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team remained alone in first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference following a 2-1 victory over the Dragons.

The Eagles' fifth consecutive win puts them at 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Dragons are 3-3-1, 1-2. AU's win also is the 10
th in a row in the series with Tiffin.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The game was scoreless until the 33rd minute, when fifth-year midfielder Georgia Nagucki took a penalty kick and put AU ahead 1-0. It was Nagucki's third goal of the season, and second via a penalty kick.
- In the first 45 minutes, the Eagles outshot the Dragons by a 9-0 count, and had six of seven corner kicks.
- Ashland extended its advantage to 2-0 in the 65th minute, when senior forward Bailey Clark potted her fourth goal of the fall on a feed from sophomore McKinley Mendenhall, whose sixth assist of the season is one more than all of 2021.
- Tiffin's lone goal came on a penalty kick in the 90th minute.

- Ashland's final shots (20-3) and corner kicks (13-2) disparity belied the final score.
- Senior goalkeeper Bri Rogers (5-2) made a pair of saves in the victory.
