There are 23 days until the 2022 season-opener, but Ashland University's women's soccer team already is on the minds of head coaches around NCAA Division II.
As revealed by United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday (Aug. 2) afternoon, the Eagle women are among teams receiving votes in the USC National Preseason Poll. No other Great Midwest Athletic Conference team either was in the top 25 or listed among those receiving votes.
The last time AU's women were ranked in the USC Top 25 was at the end of the 2021 fall regular season, when they are No. 15 in the nation.
Ashland's women were 15-2-3 in 2021, winning both the Great Midwest regular-season and tournament titles, and reaching the NCAA Division II postseason for the 11th time in program history.
The Eagles' 2022 season will begin on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at another team receiving votes in the preseason poll, Embry-Riddle.
