In Game 2 of the four-game Great Midwest Athletic Conference series on Saturday (April 9) at Malone, Ashland University's baseball team ran its winning streak to six games after a 7-2 decision over the Pioneers.

The Eagles stay in the hunt for the top spot in the league at 17-9 overall and 10-4 in the conference, while Malone is 12-17, 3-9.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Trailing 2-1 through five innings, Ashland put up a four-spot in the top of the sixth. The go-ahead runs were driven in by senior first baseman Logan Moss' two-run double.
- The Eagle bullpen made that lead stand up, finishing with six scoreless frames. Sophomore left-hander Adam Schomburg earned the win in relief, going 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out two.
- Senior righty Joel Ciccarelli became the fifth Eagle to record at least one save in 2022, ending the game with 1 2/3 hitless frames.
- In AU's 12-hit attack, senior shortstop Austin Eifrid went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a pair of stolen bases, and freshman second baseman Ian Sanders was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
