Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s Lacrosse 4-1 In Last 5 After Home Rout Of Storm

On Sunday (April 3) afternoon at Ferguson Field, Ashland University's women's lacrosse team recorded its fourth win in the last five games, 19-6, over Lake Erie in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup.

The Eagles move to 4-6 overall and 3-1 in the league, while the Storm are 1-7, 0-4.

"I think that we learned again that you have to show up for every minute," said Ashland head coach Lauren Simko, "never let your guard down. The kids are excited about what they can accomplish, and they've learned to never settle."

WHAT HAPPENED
  • Ashland led from the opening draw, taking a lead of 4-0 and not looking back.
  • Junior midfielder Cassady Becker led the Eagles with six goals, the most for an AU player since Sofia Michael's seven in the 2021 opener against Concordia Ann Arbor.
  • "Collectively, we played pretty good," Becker said. "Passing and moving on offense is now becoming better and better each game. We have a big, big week next weekend, so getting one more win under our belt is very good for us."
  • Recording hat tricks for the Eagles on Sunday were freshman attacker Camryn English, senior attacker Isabelle Pisani and senior midfielder Cora Wilson. Three assists each were earned by junior midfielder Madie Gash and junior attacker Emily Jewell.
  • Said Simko, "One thing that we're talking a lot about right now is sharing the ball. It's great that Cass scored six goals and see the back of the net. We're trying to work on having a balanced offense.
  • Sophomore goalie Jillian Rekulak made nine saves to record the victory.
  • Ashland out-shot Lake Erie by a 35-18 count.
