Ashland University's women's lacrosse team won its third game in the last four outings on Friday (April 1) night, defeating Ursuline, 18-3, in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game at Ferguson Field.
The Eagles improve to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the Great Midwest, while the Arrows are 0-5, 0-1.
"We're finally getting into our groove," said Ashland head coach
Lauren Simko. "Moving the ball quick on the attack, working hard in the midfield. I think the main goal we have for ourselves every game is to out-work our opponents. I think our record the last couple of games has really shown that that's finally starting to happen."
Also for the third time in the last four games, Ashland set a new program record for fewest goals allowed in a game.
"With coach leading the charge, I feel like we're prepared for things," said senior midfielder
Cora Wilson, who had a goal and an assist on Friday night. "We're definitely excited."
Of Wilson, who has been with the program since the beginning, Simko said, "Cora's done a great job. She has led by example, and I think she has set the bar high for what we expect from our leaders."
WHAT HAPPENED
- Ashland had leads of 4-0, 11-1 and 15-2 en route to the victory.

- Sophomore goalie Jillian Rekulak made seven saves in the latest record-setting contest.
- "I think this game, she was finally able to see some decent shots," Simko said. "She was able to finally start getting into her groove in goal, and the defense is starting to listen to her and (she is) working on her clears. She's going to be a really good asset for us down the road."
