Softball Loses Two To Continue Florida Slate

On Monday (March 7) in Florida, Ashland University's softball team lost 8-1 to Wheeling and 2-0 to Concordia-St. Paul.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Against Wheeling, the Cardinals scored twice in the top of the second inning, five times in the top of the fifth and once in the top of the seventh. Ashland had taken the lead with a run in the bottom of the first.
  • The Eagles' 2-3-4 hitters – junior right fielder Lauren McMillin, sophomore second baseman Hailey Krinn and junior third baseman Hailey Struckman – each had two of AU's eight hits.
  • Junior pitcher Josie Duncan yielded five hits, seven runs (three earned) and three walks in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss in the circle.
  • In the game against Concordia-St. Paul, the Eagles gave up just single runs in the bottom of the first and sixth. Duncan took the tough-luck loss, allowing five hits, two runs (one earned) and a walk and striking out two in six innings.
 
UP NEXT
Ashland (3-3) has two more Florida games scheduled for Tuesday (March 8) – at 10 a.m. vs. Concord, and at 12:30 p.m. vs. Southern Indiana.
