STAYING HOME! No. 4 Eagle Women To Play Host To NCAA Midwest Regional

For the sixth time in program history, Ashland University's women's basketball team will play host to an NCAA Division II Midwest Regional tournament.
 
As announced by the NCAA on Sunday (March 6) night, the No. 4-ranked Eagles (28-2) are the No. 1 seed in the regional, and will play host to the tournament at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium on Friday (March 11), Saturday (March 12) and March 14.
 
Ashland's regional quarterfinal opponent will be No. 8 Ferris State (22-9) on Friday at 5 p.m.. The remainder of the regional field will be No. 3 Drury (31-4) vs. No. 6 Missouri-St. Louis (23-5) on Friday at noon, No. 2 Grand Valley State (27-2) vs. No. 7 Wayne State (18-9) on Friday at 2:30 p.m., and No. 4 seed Walsh (26-4) against No. 5 Southern Indiana (23-5) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
 
The two semifinal games will be Saturday at 5 and 7:30 p.m., and the Midwest Regional championship game will be Monday at 7 p.m.
 
The Eagles previously played host to the Midwest Region in 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018, winning four regional titles (2012-13, 2017-18).
 
Since the start of the 2015-16 season, Ashland's home record is 114-4 (.966).
 
Ashland won the Division II national championship in both 2013 and 2017, and was the national runner-up in both 2012 and 2018. This is the Eagles' 12th D-II postseason appearance (2004, 2006, 2012-13, 2015-22), and eighth qualification in a row, and Ashland has an all-time postseason record of 28-8.
 
A 64-team tournament (the top eight teams from each of eight regions), the D-II postseason will begin on Friday across the country, and the Elite Eight, Final Four and the national championship game will be March 21, 23 and 25 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
