Ashland University's women's lacrosse team continues to make program history and win while doing it, as, on Tuesday (March 22) night, the Eagles won at Lake Erie, 21-4.
Following their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference game, the Eagles are 2-5 overall and 1-0 in league play, while the Storm are 1-4, 0-1.
Tuesday night's victory gave Ashland 40 goals in the last two games, a program best. In addition, the four goals given up mark the second straight game the Eagles have set a new program mark for fewest allowed in a game, and the Eagles set a new program mark for largest margin of victory for the second game in a row.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Eagles scored the first 13 goals of the game, and went in to victory from there.
- Ashland's 21 goals came from seven different players – senior midfielder Cora Wilson (five), junior midfielder Cassady Becker (four), junior midfielder Natalie Sonntag (three), junior midfielder Madie Gash (three), senior attacker Isabelle Pisani (three), junior attacker Emily Jewell (two), and senior attacker Jordann Lopata (one).
- Sophomore goalie Jillian Rekulak stopped four shots in goal to record the record-low goals allowed total.
- Ashland had a 27-12 shots advantage, and forced 12 Storm turnovers.
