On Saturday (March 19) in Hillsdale, Mich., Ashland University's tennis teams opened Great Midwest Athletic Conference play against the Chargers.
The Eagle men (3-8 overall, 0-1 Great Midwest) lost a 5-2 decision, while the Eagle women (2-5, 0-1) lost by a 6-1 count.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The men's match saw Ashland get singles wins from freshman Fabian Bussard at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0) and sophomore Omar Prince at No. 6 (6-3, 3-6, 10-8). The Chargers earned the doubles point, but the AU No. 3 tandem of freshman William Rassat and senior Tche Kun Teng won, 6-3.
- In the women's match, the Eagles' lone victory came from senior Lydia Bice at No. 6 singles, 6-9, 6-2 (9-11).
