In a rain-marred game in Florida on Thursday (March 10), Ashland University's baseball team waited out a lengthy delay, then defeated Saginaw Valley State, 4-1.

The Eagles are 6-4 after winning on back-to-back days, while the Cardinals are 4-6.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Ashland scored single runs in the first, second, fourth and eighth innings. That was enough for the Eagle pitching staff, as six AU hurlers combined to keep SVSU to a single run.
- Sophomore right-hander Clayton Cochran earned the win following the rain delay, allowing a hit, a run and four walks over 3 1/3 innings. Senior righty Perry Bewley picked up the save with a scoreless ninth and two strikeouts.
- Leading the Ashland offense on Thursday were senior third baseman Tim Zeller (2-for-4, double, RBI) and freshman first baseman Joey Bertani (2-for-4, RBI, run scored, double).
