On Wednesday (March 9) night in Florida, Ashland University's baseball team improved to 5-4 on the young 2022 season after a 12-10, 10-inning victory over Augustana (5-2).

WHAT HAPPENED
- Trailing 8-6 going into the eighth inning, the Eagles scored four runs in the top of the eighth to go ahead 10-8. Those runs came from a hit by pitch taken by senior shortstop Austin Eifrid, a two-run single from senior left fielder Alex Whipple, and an RBI single from senior third baseman Tim Zeller.
- After Augustana tied the game with runs in the bottom of the eighth, the Eagles scored two in the top of the 10th for the extra-inning victory. Both Eifrid and Whipple scored on wild pitches.
- Eifrid and Whipple each had three RBIs in the victory, Zeller was 3-for-4, and Whipple was 2-for-5. Senior right-hander Joel Ciccarelli pitched a scoreless ninth for the win, and sophomore righty Justin Dyksma struck out the side in the 10th for the save.
- A game which featured 22 runs and 22 hits also saw three ties and four lead changes.
- Late on Tuesday (March 8), the Eagles lost a 12-2 count to St. Cloud State. Eifrid was 2-for-4, and senior first baseman Micah Allen had a home run and two RBIs.
- Senior right-hander Perry Bewley took the relief loss, allowing three hits, three runs (two earned) and two walks in three innings.
