It didn't take Ashland University's baseball team very long to get its first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honor.
On Monday (Feb. 28) afternoon, senior third baseman
Tim Zeller earned the honor following a big weekend at the plate and on the mound for the Eagles at the Frank Loria Invitational in Salem, W.Va.
In four victories, Zeller hit .667 (12-for-18) and recorded five doubles, two home runs, seven RBIs and 11 runs scored. He also earned the relief victory against the host Tigers on Saturday (Feb. 26) night, striking out five and walking three in 2 2/3 hitless innings.
Ashland (4-0) will begin play on the annual Florida trip on Friday (March 4) at 3:30 p.m. vs. Gannon.
