No. RV Baseball Done In By Big Innings In Houston

Four multiple-run innings by Alabama-Huntsville ruined Day 2 of the 2026 Houston Winter Invitational for the No. RV Ashland University baseball team on Saturday (Jan. 31), as the Eagles (1-1) lost, 18-6.

The Eagles fell behind early, allowing three first-inning runs. Another Charger run in the top of the second, unearned, moved the score to 4-0.

Alabama-Huntsville (1-1) added another run in the fifth and three in the sixth to raise its lead to 8-0 before the Eagles dented the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth. Junior catcher Nate King's ground out scored redshirt freshman infielder Drew Stevens.

In the bottom of the seventh, Ashland's second run came courtesy of a run-scoring triple from graduate right fielder Chris Franks. Stevens then scored Franks on a grounder for an 8-3 margin.

Three Charger runs in the eighth put the score at 11-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, senior left fielder Billy Howard scored on a balk, then graduate shortstop Collin Overholt lifted a sacrifice fly, but Huntsville posted seven runs in the ninth to pull away.

Senior right fielder Mason Koons' sac fly in the ninth provided the game's final margin.
