On Thursday (Oct. 6) night at Ferguson Field, Ashland University's men's soccer team saw its six-game winning streak snapped by Cedarville, 2-1.
The good news for the Eagle men is they remain in first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference at 7-4-1 overall and 6-3 in the league. The Yellow Jackets are 5-6-1, 3-5.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Yellow Jackets struck first in the 14th minute, when Mauricio Ochoa Vazquez scored on a cross from Andy Volk.
- Ochoa Vazquez potted his second goal of the game in the 25th minute on a penalty kick, putting the Yellow Jackets up 2-0.
- Ashland got on the board in the final minute off a corner kick, as sophomore forward Jake Grove scored from sophomore midfielder Sam Jordan. For Grove, it was his team-high fourth goal of the season; for Jordan, his first assist.
THE WRAP-UP
- Sophomore goalkeeper Ty Bowden continues to play every minute in net for the Eagles. He saved two shots on Thursday night.
- Ashland out-shot Cedarville by a 15-11 count, and had a 6-4 corner kicks advantage.
