Finishing the regular season on Tuesday (Oct. 25) night at Ferguson Field, Ashland University's women's soccer team defeated Lake Erie by a 5-0 count.

The Eagles head into the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament at 13-3-2 overall and 11-1-2 in the league, and with a 13-1-2 mark after an 0-2 start to the campaign. The Storm's season ends at 1-14-2, 0-13-1.

Ashland will be the No. 2 seed in conference tournament, and will play on Nov. 3 in Cedarville against the winner of Northwood/Walsh at 4:30 p.m..

WHAT HAPPENED
- Ashland got on the board in the 10th minute when freshman forward Dani Hicks scored her eighth goal of the season from long range. Then, in the 18th minute, freshman midfielder Leiah Goedde scored her fourth goal following a corner kick from sophomore forward McKinley Mendenhall (12th assist of 2022) and a feed from junior defender Maddy Grabowski (second assist of the season).
- Clark potted her eighth goal of the season in the 27th minute on a back-heel tally following feeds from Mendenhall (13th assist of the year, tied for fourth in program history) and Hicks (fourth of the fall). In the 31st minute, Mendenhall's eighth goal of the season on a pass down the middle of the field from freshman midfielder Keira Erling (first collegiate assist) made it a 4-0 contest.
- Ashland made it a 5-0 contest in the 38th minute when junior midfielder Vanessa Menchofer scored her first goal of the year on a free kick pass from Grabowski, her second assist of the night and third of the season.

THE WRAP-UP
- The Eagles out-shot the Storm by a 24-6 count, and AU took all 15 corner kicks on the night.
- Senior goalkeeper Bri Rogers stopped three shots for her ninth clean sheet of the season and 17th shutout in the last two seasons.
- Ashland has won 14 consecutive meetings with Lake Erie.
