Senior outside hitter
Erin Krupar joined the Ashland University volleyball program's 1,000-kill club on Friday (Sept. 3) night, as the Eagles opened the 2021 fall season with a pair of losses at the Tampa Classic.

Ashland lost on Friday morning to Illinois Springfield, 3-2 (23-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-13), then fell to No. 17-ranked Northwest Missouri State on Friday night, 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-14).

Krupar came into the season with 971 career kills, and picked up No. 1,000 in the second set of Friday night's match.

WHAT HAPPENED VS. ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD
- Krupar recorded 22 kills and 13 digs, while freshman right-side hitter GraceAnn Hartman (15 kills, five block assists), freshman outside hitter Sage Kissman (13 kills) and freshman defensive specialist Lauren Welch (team-high 19 digs) all were solid in their collegiate debuts.
- Senior setter Zoey Peck added 48 assists and 10 digs, and junior defensive specialist Stephanie Smith (13) rounded out four Eagles in double-digit digs.
- After winning the first two sets, the Eagles lost the last three, hitting a combined .061 in the process.

WHAT HAPPENED VS. NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE
- Krupar led the offense with nine kills, Peck collected 18 assists and Welch led the team again in digs with 10.

Ashland finishes play at the Tampa Classic on Saturday (Sept. 4) against No. RV Augustana at 12:45 p.m. and vs. the host Spartans, ranked No. 5 in the country, at 7:30 p.m.
