Bri Rogers is off to quite a start as an Eagle.
Ashland University's junior goalkeeper, in her first season with the women's soccer team, extended her scoreless minutes streak to start the season to 297:42 following a 3-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory over Lake Erie at Ferguson Field on Saturday (Sept. 18) afternoon.
The Eagles improve to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the Great Midwest, while the Storm are 1-3-1, 0-1-1.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Rogers (3-0) made three saves in Saturday's victory – and was given more than enough offense early on.
- In the 15th minute, freshman forward/midfielder McKinley Mendenhall found the back of the net for the second time this season, unassisted. Then, in the 25th minute, fellow rookie forward Macayla Harris potted her second goal of the season, also unassisted.
- Junior forward Bailey Clark, in the 46th minute, provided the final margin of victory – and scored the first non-freshman AU goal of the fall. Senior defender Rylie Howman picked up her first assist of the fall.
- Ashland dominated the pace of play, outshooting the Storm by a 27-4 count and taking all seven of the contest's corner kicks.
UP NEXT
Ashland will go down I-71 on Thursday (Sept. 23) at 5 p.m. to take on Ohio Dominican (0-4, 0-1).
