In its first-ever Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday (Sept. 16) at Tiffin, Ashland University's women's soccer team took a 1-0 decision to improve to 2-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the league.
The Dragons are 0-4, 0-1.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Youth continued to be served for the Eagles in the first half on Thursday, as freshman forward/midfielder Avery Rosso came off the bench to pot her first collegiate goal and give AU a 1-0 lead in the 45th minute. The tally, assisted by senior defender Tori Baker, meant each of the team's first three goals of 2021 came from freshmen.
- Ashland out-shot the Dragons by an 11-2 margin in the first half, and had all three corner kicks in the first 45 minutes.
- Junior goalkeeper Bri Rogers and the defense finished off the second clean sheet of the young fall season. Rogers made two saves, and has not allowed a goal in 207:42 this season.
- The Eagles had a 17-6 shots advantage in the victory.
