Finishing up the Ashland University Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 12) at the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex, the Eagle men's tennis team won its two doubles-only matches against The College of Wooster and Lawrence Tech.

WHAT HAPPENED
- In the match against the Fighting Scots, all three AU doubles teams earned victories. At No. 1, seniors Stuart Brdicka and Jordan Phelps won 6-1; at No. 2, senior Tche Kun Teng and freshman Fabian Bussard 6-2; and at No. 3, sophomore Grant Marzio and junior Jacob Hoffman 6-4.
- Against Lawrence Tech, Ashland earned wins in two of three matches – Brdicka/Phelps at No. 1 (7-6 (4)), and Marzio/Hoffman at No. 3 (7-5).
- Ashland's women's tennis team also played doubles-only contests on Sunday, losing 2-1 to both Saginaw Valley State and West Virginia State. Against the Cardinals, the No. 1 pair of sophomore Kortney Reed and senior Huntyr Lake took a 7-5 decision. Versus WVSU, the No. 2 team of senior Gabriella Hudec and freshman Claudia Adcock won 6-2.
- "I was very pleased with how both teams played," said Ashland Director of Tennis Operations Tim Dunford. "The freshmen on both the men and the women made an immediate impact. Fabian Bussard played incredibly well in singles. I'm very excited about both teams, and I can't wait to get to March, where we open up in GMAC play."

Ashland's women will play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals on Sept. 18-20, and the Eagle men will do the same on Sept. 24-26.
