Eagles Score 49 Runs In Doubleheader Sweep of Parkside

The Ashland University baseball team set a program record by scoring 32 runs in Game 1 and finished a doubleheader against Parkside with 49 runs on 50 hits, beating the Rangers 32-11 and 17-7 on Saturday (May 1) afternoon in Kenosha, Wis.
 
The Eagles (17-12, 13-6 GLIAC) scored multiple runs in 11 of their 16 innings and started the doubleheader with a 10-run first inning in Game 1. Ashland then scored nine in the third, five in the third, and continued from there.
 
Junior Mike Flemming hit three homers in Game 1 while freshman Brad Goodyear, senior Garett Robberts and junior Alex Whipple added homers of their own as the Eagles had 33 hits in the game.
 
Flemming had seven RBI, Whipple had five RBI and Robberts and junior Logan Moss had four RBI each.
 
Seventeen of Ashland's 33 hits went for extra bases as junior Micah Allen had three doubles.
 
Junior Jacob Harsany (3-0) earned the win, throwing all seven innings.
 
In Game 2, the Eagles had a 14-0 lead through three-and-a-half innings, scoring five in the first, two in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth.
 
Four of Ashland's 17 hits went for extra bases as Robberts had two doubles and juniors Austin Eifrid and Logan Stoldt also doubled.

Robbertts was 5-for-6 in the game with four RBI and Stoldt, Allen, Moss and junior Dillan Smith had two hits each.
 
Senior left-hander Josh Smith (2-2) earned the win, going six innings and allowing two earned runs with nine strikeouts.
 
The Eagles will go for the series sweep on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
