The Ashland University lacrosse team lost to No. 8 Grand Valley State, 20-2, on Friday (April 23) night at Ferguson Field.
The Lakers (9-2, 6-0 GLIAC) scored 12 goals in the opening period and outscored the Eagles, 8-2, in the second half to secure the win.
The Eagles (1-11, 0-7 GLIAC) notched their first tally of the game with 10:13 left in the second half as sophomore
Natalie Sonntag scored in a man-up situation. She now has 30 goals on the season.
Freshman
Cassady Becker would add the Eagles' other goal with under two minutes to play off a pass from sophomore
Cora Wilson. It was the 14
th goal of the season for Becker and was Wilson's sixth assist.
Freshman
Jillian Rekulak made eight saves while Audrey Maloney stopped six shots for the Lakers.
Sophie Conroy led the Lakers with six goals and two assists.
The Eagles and Lakers will square off again in the regular season finale on Sunday (April 25) at noon at Ferguson Field.
