The Ashland University lacrosse team lost to visiting No. 8-ranked Grand Valley State in the Eagles' season finale on Sunday (April 25) afternoon at Ferguson Field, 17-3.
The Eagles (1-12, 0-8 GLIAC) were not able to keep up with the Lakers (10-2, 7-0 GLIAC), who took a 9-2 lead into halftime.
Sophomore
Natalie Sonntag tied the score in the second minute of play after Molly Bursinger opened the scoring for GVSU.
The Eagles also got goals from sophomore
Cora Wilson and freshman
Cassady Becker in the game.
Sonntag finished the season with 31 goals to lead the team while Becker had 15 and Wilson scored 10.
Freshman
Jillian Rekulak made 11 saves for the Eagles in Sunday's game.
Bursinger led the Lakers with four goals.
Prior the game, the Eagles recognized the accomplishments of their four seniors –
Kristen Ogle,
Sofia Michael,
Jillian Ryan and
Ashley Merritt – playing for the final time at Ferguson Field.
