The Ashland University volleyball team was not able to take a set at Grand Valley State, losing to the Lakers, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21, on Saturday (March 20) afternoon in Allendale, Mich.
The Eagles (6-4, 6-4 GLIAC) struggled in attack, hitting just .113 while the Lakers hit at a .266 clip. Ashland also struggled to get through the GVSU block as the Lakers piled up nine blocks in three sets.
The Lakers had five players with at least seven kills in the match.
Senior
Brooke Peiffer led the Eagles with 11 kills (.059) and 10 digs and junior
Erin Krupar added 10 kills (.241).
Junior
Zoey Peck handed out 14 assistss and 12 digs and sophomore
Stephanie Smith had 17 assists. Freshman
Katie Thompson had a match-high 18 digs.
The Eagles will return to the court on Friday (March 26) as they start a two-match series against Saginaw Valley at Kates Gymnasium. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
