To end the first weekend of 2021 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday (March 20), Ashland University's men's and women's tennis teams each lost 7-0 decisions at Ferris State.
Ashland's men's No. 2 doubles team of juniors
Jordan Phelps and
Tche Kun Teng won its match, 6-2, but the Bulldogs took the other two doubles matches to earn that point.
"Overall, despite the score, I was very happy and pleased with the way we played," said Ashland director of tennis operations
Tim Dunford following the women's match. "Ferris State is very well-coached, especially in doubles. One thing that I really like about this team is we never quit, we never give up, we fight and we give 100 percent all the way through the entire match."
Returning home to the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex on Friday (March 26) at 1 p.m., the Eagle men (3-4 overall, 0-2 GLIAC) and women (2-3 overall, 0-2 GLIAC) will play host to GLIAC rival Purdue Northwest.
