Ashland University's volleyball team used a number of career-best matches on Friday (Nov. 5) night at Cedarville to take a 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 24-26, 25-14) decision and earn a spot in the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Eagles, who also inched closer to a Great Midwest South Division title, are 14-12 overall and 10-3 in the league, while the Yellow Jackets are 9-12, 6-8.

WHAT HAPPENED
- One of the career-high numbers posted on Friday night was a new school record. Sophomore libero Katie Thompson had 40 digs in the victory, shattering the previous record of 33 set by Kaitlin Bean on Sept. 7, 2018 vs. Davenport.
- On offense, senior outside hitter Heidi Fausze blew past her previous career-high in kills (12) with 20 on Friday night. Finally, on defense, junior middle blocker Anna Krikke tied her career-best with five total blocks.
- Senior outside hitter Erin Krupar (15) and freshman right-side hitter GraceAnn Hartman (12) joined Fausze with double-digit kills, while senior setter Zoey Peck added 43 assists.
- In addition to Thompson, junior defensive specialist Stephanie Smith (16), Krupar (12) and Peck (11) all ended with double-digit digs – a big reason for Cedarville finishing with a team hitting percentage of .029.
