Ashland Men, Women End Fall With Home Wins Over Franciscan

To end the fall non-championship season, Ashland University's men's and women's tennis teams each took 6-1 decisions from Franciscan on Saturday (Oct. 9) afternoon at the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex.

WHAT HAPPENED

On the men's side, the Eagles won five of six singles matches, and all three doubles matchups.
In singles, victories were earned by senior Stuart Brdicka at No. 1 (6-2, 6-2), senior Jordan Phelps at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0), freshman Omar Prince at No. 3 (7-6 (7-4), 6-2), freshman Fabian Bussard at No. 4 (6-4, 6-1), and freshman Max Matheson at No. 5 (6-2, 6-3).
Doubles wins were turned in by Brdicka and Phelps at No. 1 (6-0), Bussard and senior Tche Kun Teng at No. 2 (6-1), and junior Jacob Hoffman and sophomore Grant Marzio at No. 3 (6-4).
The AU women also had five singles wins and three doubles victories.
At singles, the victories were earned by senior Huntyr Lake at No. 2 (7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-2)), sophomore Kortney Reed at No. 3 (6-4, 6-1), freshman Claudia Adcock at No. 4 (6-1, 6-4), senior Kristyn Conrad at No. 5 (6-3, 6-4), and freshman Alice Adin at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1).
Women's doubles Ws came from senior Gabriella Hudec and Adcock at No. 2 (6-1), Lake and Conrad at No. 2 (6-1), and Reed and senior Lydia Bice at No. 3 (6-2).
