It's that time of the year for Ashland University's men's soccer team.
The Eagles earned their second win in a row on Thursday (Oct. 7) night, a 5-2 result at Trevecca Nazarene. Ashland is 2-4-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Trojans are 3-3-2, 2-2-2.
In their last 11 October outings, the Eagles are 7-2-2. Ashland's five goals are the most in a single game since the 2016 season finale at home vs. Tiffin (also five).
WHAT HAPPENED
- Ashland exploded for four goals in the game's first 16:28. Senior defender Joseph Renner put the Eagles on the board in the seventh minute with his first goal of the fall. He was assisted by sophomore midfielder Rafael Pereira.
- Senior forward Justin Libertowski scored three of the next four goals - in the 10th, 17th and 55th minutes - for a hat trick and a team-high five goals this fall. Pereira and and senior forward Kieran Paterson assisted Libertowski's first goal, senior midfielder Brajdi Cekrezi the second and Pereira the third.
- Paterson scored in the 14th minute on a feed from Libertowski. The Trojans scored their goals in the 58th and 67th minutes.
- Junior goalkeeper Brett Robinson earned the victory with two saves, as Ashland had a slim 14-13 advantage in shots. The Trojans had seven corner kicks to the Eagles' four.

Ashland's men will finish the weekend road trip on Saturday (Oct. 9) at 3:30 p.m. at Kentucky Wesleyan (1-6, 1-5).
