In the hunt for a spot in the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament, Ashland University's men's soccer team took a 2-1 loss to Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday (Oct. 28) night at Ferguson Field.
The Eagles are 5-7-3 overall and 5-5-2 in the Great Midwest, while the Trojans are 5-8-1, 4-7-1. The final two spots in the conference tourney are up for the grabs, and with two games left in the regular season, AU is in the No. 5 spot with 17, Findlay is No. 6 with 16 points, and Tiffin (15 points) and Trevecca (13 points) are giving chase.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Trojans jumped ahead quickly, scoring in the third minute when Carlos Bravo found Zachary Polk for the opening tally of the contest.
- Ashland got a key goal in the 44
th minute, knotting the game at 1 when senior midfielder
Brajdi Cekrezi potted his first goal of the season on the second assist of the campaign from freshman defender
Camden Stanzione.
- Trevecca Nazarene re-took the lead in the 63
rd minute following a corner kick, as Bravo found Cillian Farmer for a 2-1 advantage.
- Ashland had a slim 12-11 shots advantage, and of the 17 corner kicks on Thursday, the Eagles had 11.
- Freshman goalkeeper
Ty Bowden (3-2-0) made one save.

Ashland's next-to-last regular-season game is Saturday (Oct. 30) at 10 a.m. at Tiffin (5-7-3, 4-5-3).
