Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

AU Women Top Tiffin, Earn Win No. 10 Of The Fall

With regional rankings and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament fast approaching, Ashland University's women's soccer team isn't letting up.

The Eagles earned their seventh consecutive win on Thursday (Oct. 21), taking a 3-0 decision from Tiffin at Ferguson Field. Ashland improves to 10-1-2 overall and 9-0-1 in the conference, while the Dragons are 2-10-1, 2-7-1.

The Eagles have earned double digit wins in eight straight fall campaigns (2013-19 and 2021). The 2020 fall season was postponed to the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in that season, AU was 8-2-1.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • In the seventh minute, Ashland got on the board thanks to the second goal of the season from freshman forward Avery Rosso. Rosso was fed from junior forward Bailey Clark, the reigning Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Week, who picked up her second assist of the campaign, and senior midfielder Emily Mark, her first helper of the season.
  • Another freshman forward, Julianna Williams, potted her second goal of the fall in the 25th minute on an assist from junior defender Grace Bodker, her first helper of the season.
  • Ashland extended its lead to the final margin in the 75th minute when freshman midfielder Sabrina Trapani scored her second goal of the season. Senior defender Rylie Howman earned her third assist of the fall.
  • The Eagles outshot the Dragons, 23-6. Junior goalkeeper Bri Rogers recorded her seventh clean sheet of the season after making three saves, and her season goals-against average stands at 0.35.
