Something was going to give on Saturday (Oct. 16) night at Cedarville.
In a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest, Ashland University's men's soccer team lost at the Yellow Jackets in overtime, 1-0. The loss snapped the Eagles' four-game winning streak and moved them to 4-5-3 overall and 4-3-2 in the Great Midwest, while Cedarville extends its win streak to five, and is 9-2-1, 6-2-1.
WHAT HAPPENED
- A nil-nil first half saw Cedarville out-shoot AU by an 8-2 count. Each team had a pair of corner kicks in the game's first 45 minutes.
- The game remained scoreless until the 99th minute, when Andy Volk scored on a feed from Pedro Alvares.
- Cedarville finished the game with a 16-8 shots advantage, but the Eagles took eight of the game's 11 corner kicks.
- Junior goalkeeper Brett Robinson made three saves in the defeat.
