Ashland University's softball team didn't waste any time getting in the win column on its annual Florida spring trip.
The Eagles defeated both Lake Erie (0-6), 5-2, and Southern New Hampshire (3-3), 2-1, on Sunday (March 8), moving them to the .500 mark on the young season at 3-3.
Against the Storm, Ashland's big offensive blow was a two-run double by sophomore center fielder Jamie Rutherford. Freshman pitcher Josie Duncan (1-1) earned her first collegiate victory, going the distance on a four-hitter, walking five and striking out eight.
Ashland will play two more Florida games on Monday (March 9) against Malone at 9:15 a.m. and Bemidji State at 11:30 a.m.
