On Saturday, April 11, the Ashland University softball team routed the Ohio Dominican Panthers at home, winning both games of a doubleheader. The Eagles, who have been red-hot for most of the 2026 campaign, comfortably won both with a strong balance of hitting and pitching contributing.
They won game one, 4-1, before winning game two by a similar mark, 3-0.
In the Saturday opener, the Eagles were led by Kate Kujawski, who launched a three-run blast to give the team a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning.
That would be more than enough support for pitcher Olivia Amstutz, who controlled the game in the circle. Ohio Dominican got on the board in the sixth inning, but Ashland answered right back, with Raelyn Koesters knocking an RBI double later in the inning to extend the lead to 4-1.
Amstutz went the distance, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out four to earn the win.
Heading into game two, the Eagles had plenty of momentum.
The Eagles broke through with all three runs in the third. Amanda Kolar started the scoring with an RBI triple, Cassidy Shaffer followed with an RBI double, and Kujawski added a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
That was all the support pitcher Delaney Lis needed. Lis tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out four.
Ashland finished with seven hits in the game, with Koesters leading the way with two.
The Eagles are now up to a 21-12 overall record and 10-3 mark in conference play.
Moving forward, the Eagles will begin preparing for the Lake Erie College Storm, with whom they will clash in a doubleheader on Sunday, April 12, at 1:00 p.m. EST in Painesville, Ohio.Â
