The Ashland University softball team is 5-7 this season following a split of two games in Florida on Thursday (March 12).
Ashland's second game of the day was a 12-2, five-inning victory over Indiana, Pa. The Eagles broke out the bats to the tune of 14 hits, with senior second baseman Camille Pollutro delivering a grand slam, and going 2-for-3 with five RBIs. Freshman first baseman Cat Lohse, junior right fielder Alli Hylton, sophomore center fielder Jamie Rutherford and junior catcher Emma Lawson all had two hits, and Hylton and junior shortstop Abigail Butler each drove in two runs.
Freshman pitcher Regan Ware earned her third win of the season (3-2) by keeping the Crimson Hawks to four hits, two runs (one earned) and two walks and striking out three.
A 10-2, five-inning loss to Winona State earlier on Thursday saw senior catcher Cassie Haight hit a two-run home run.
Ashland will continue its spring trip on Friday (March 13) vs. Slippery Rock at 10 a.m. and against Lock Haven at 12:15 p.m.
