Ashland University's men's tennis team could not topple Francis Marion on the road on Tuesday (March 10).
The Eagles (4-7) suffered a 5-2 loss.
The AU men weren't able to get anything going in doubles play, and didn't win a match until sophomore Stuart Brdicka and senior Priyank Soni stepped up in singles. Brdicka won his No. 1 match decisively, 6-3, 6-3. Soni had to gut out a long three-setter. He lost the first set, 6-7, but fought back to win the second set, with ease, 6-1. In the decisive third set, Soni took it to the wire, and eked out a 7-6 win to clinch the match.
Ashland will have a chance to rebound on Thursday (March 12) against USC-Sumter at noon.
