Softball Splits GLIAC Doubleheader At Ohio Dominican

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

In its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road games of 2016, Ashland University's softball team split at Ohio Dominican on Saturday (April 2) – winning 9-3 and losing 8-2.

In Game 1, the Eagles (14-15 overall, 4-4 GLIAC) overcame an early 2-0 deficit with three crooked numbers – four runs in the top of the third, two in the fourth and three in the sixth.

The decisive third inning saw junior center fielder Ally Farrah hit an RBI single, followed by senior left fielder Shelbie Prince with a two-run single and senior catcher Bri Buckley with a run-scoring safety.

Sophomore third baseman Marissa Caraballo was 3-for-4 with a double and scored two runs, and Farrah and Prince each drove in two runs.

Senior pitcher Sarah Alley moved to 6-5 following a complete-game eight-hitter. She allowed three runs and no walks and struck out six.

The nightcap saw the Panthers score six runs in the top of the third inning and never look back. AU's two runs came in the seventh and final frame.

Junior shortstop Alexis Van Horn had two of Ashland's five hits.

Ashland is 4-2 in its last six games following a modest three-game losing streak.

The Eagles will continue GLIAC road play on Sunday (April 3) at 1 p.m. against Tiffin (16-10, 3-3).
