Eagles Close Regular Season With 1-0 Victory At Ohio Dominican

Box Score

Friday (Oct. 30) night's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer contest between the Ashland Eagles and the Ohio Dominican Panthers was more than just a game.

The Panthers welcomed in the Eagles in a special night supporting AU head coach Dan Krispinsky and his battle with cancer. ODU raffled off items and raised more than $2,000 for Krispinsky's medical expenses.

The game itself went favorably for the Eagles, as sophomore forward Kelsey McKernan tallied her sixth goal of the season off a free kick from freshman forward Deijah Swihart in the 74th minute.

The Eagles won the game, 1-0, despite being outshot 19-9 on the night.

Ashland's victory gives the team a 13-3-0 overall regular season record (9-3-0 GLIAC). The last time the Eagles had a 13-win season was 2004, when AU finished 19-2-1 and made an NCAA Tournament run.

The Eagles will play host to a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal game as the third seed on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The opponent and time are still to be determined.

Ohio Dominican finishes the regular season 9-8-0 (8-4-0 GLIAC). The Panthers will be the fourth seed in the GLIAC Tournament.
