Panthers Scave Off Eagles 2-1

Box Score

The wind played havoc all day for the Ashland Eagles and Ohio Dominican Panthers in the first GLIAC women's soccer contest of the season. Winds were gusting over 30 mph and added an extra element for both teams cope with. However, the Panthers were able to handle the wind as well as the Eagles in a 2-1 victory at Ferguson Field.

Ashley Blake did all of the damage for Ohio Dominican in the first half when she scored both of ODU's goals in the 6th and 18th minutes. The Eagles went into halftime trailing 2-0. Once play resumed, Ashland's Alexandra Kovarik scored her first goal of the season in the 49th minute. She hit a laser into the top left corner of the goal to put the Eagles on the board. AU was never able to pull even though and fell to 3-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the GLIAC. Ohio Dominican improves to 4-2-0 and 1-0-0 in the GLIAC.

The Eagles return to the field on Friday, September 26th against the Northern Michigan Wildcats. The game will get underway at 7 pm.
