Box Score Ashland University's women's basketball team lost its initial game of the 2014-15 season Friday (Nov. 14), falling to Cedarville, 74-65, in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/Great Midwest Athletic Conference Challenge at Ohio Dominican.
In her first collegiate game, Eagles freshman forward Andi Daugherty led the way with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while adding two steals and three blocks. Senior guard Taylor Woods scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and freshman guard Maggie Mitchell and freshman forward Laina Snyder each added 10 points in their first college action.
Ashland had a 40-35 rebounding edge.
Friday's game featured eight lead changes and seven ties. The Eagles had a 52-51 lead on a Snyder jumper with 6:16 to play, but Cedarville went on a 23-13 run to end the game.
The Eagles will play their second and final game in the GLIAC/G-MAC Challenge Saturday (Nov. 15) at 2 p.m. against Ursuline.
