Box Score The AU women's soccer team celebrated Senior Night on Saturday (Nov. 2) at Ferguson Field. All of those activities took place prior to kick-off.
Once the the clock started, all the celebrating was done by the visiting Ohio Dominican Panthers. ODU took a 2-0 first half lead and rolled to a 5-0 triumph.
Even with the loss, AU will host a first-round GLIAC Tournament game on Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2 p.m.). The team that will come to Ferguson Field is yet to be determined. The regular season ends Sunday and several games that will be played that day figure into the tournament equation.
Ashland is 9-5-2, 8-3-1 in conference action. The Panthers are 10-5-2, 7-4-1 in the league.
ODU only had a 16-14 edge in shots, but the Panthers made just about every one of their attempts count. Madison Baldwin scored her seventh goal of the season at 22:48 off an assist by Emily Spencer. Baldwin lobbed the ball over keeper Rebecca Plescia.
At 32:21, Christen Adams scored her first goal of the season on a breakaway. At the intermission, AU had an 8-5 edge in shots.
Lauren Pratt scored her seventh goal at 46:33 and at that point, there was little doubt about how this match would end. In the second half, ODU led in shots, 11-6. The visitors rolled up an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
ODU keeper Laura Clark had eight saves.
The loss put an end to a three-match winning streak for the Eagles. This is the first time they've been shut out since Sept. 22 when Ferris State won at Ferguson Field, 2-0.
